The girls varsity ice hockey program takes great pride in our student-athletes and their commitment to the Groton community. We value the importance of time spent in the classroom, the relationships and bonds formed on and off the ice, and the competitive atmosphere we create each day that we’re on the ice together. Groton plays in one of the best leagues in New England, the Independent School 联盟 (ISL), composed of sixteen teams. The goal of the coaching staff is to prepare and help develop all of our players to compete at the highest level. We also strive to provide players with valuable life lessons that they will take with them once they leave the Circle.
The Zebras start their preseason in mid-November and play nearly twenty-five league games and a holiday tournament, while practicing four to five times a week. The season ends in early March. We’re quite fortunate to have two ice rinks on campus—allowing all Groton hockey teams to practice before dinner and weeknight study halls. With a top-notch athletic center and a strength-and-conditioning coach, players spend two afternoons a week during the season in the weight room or working on their speed/agility.
The coaching staff welcomes any prospective students and their families to visit our campus for a tour and interview, to meet current players, to catch a game or practice, and to chat with 主教练 蒂姆 勒罗伊 (tleroy@groton.组织,978-448-7698). Please do not hesitate to contact Coach 勒罗伊 if you have any questions about Groton or the hockey program. We look forward to welcoming you to the Circle very soon!
Girls varsity hockey coach 蒂姆 勒罗伊 joined the Groton faculty in 2013 and spent his first seven years as the assistant varsity boys hockey coach, alongside Bill Riley, helping the team reach the New England playoffs three times. He was part of the first Groton hockey team to have a twenty-win season. 在易胜博app安卓下载之前, Coach 勒罗伊 spent six years at Cardigan Mountain School, teaching and coaching at one of the strongest junior boarding school hockey programs in the country. Coach 勒罗伊 attended St. Lawrence University and played college hockey under Coach Joe Marsh.
Throughout his first two seasons as the head coach (2020-2021 cancelled due to COVID), the girls team has found much success - earning a combined record of 26-9-9. The 2022-2023 season was the most successful year the girls hockey team has ever had in Groton history. They concluded the season winning the most games ever (18) and earned a spot in the New England Championship game (Dorothy Howards 比赛 - Small School).
